Carpe Diem!

Carpe Diem!
I believe I first heard the phrase "Carpe Diem!" in the movie Dead Poet Society.  I didn't really pay attention to the meaning, but as life has progressed for me, it has rung true more and more as time goes on.

I love visiting friends and family.  I love to travel and experience things I wouldn't normally here in southern Georgia.  I love using my senses to experience the surroundings.  What a wonderful world we live in!  I especially like experiencing new restaurants--which goes right along with those 5 senses.

This past weekend we decided to visit my husband's family.  We planned this months ago because we didn't know if our kids would be here for Thanksgiving.  We thought it would be nice to be availble for our kids, then head to his parents to spend time with them the week after.  It made for the sweetest time for both hubby and I.  I can't speak for my kids, but they are progressing with their own lives with their own choices and that's how it should be.

As it turned out, we had 3 of us here for the first time since that young man was a little guy!  Only this time, he ate a little bit more than when he did as a wee babe and a toddler.  Our other 2 had time constraints with their jobs and couldn't come, so they made the best of their situations.  We had a scaled back Thanksgiving which is a good thing.  We had a first this year...leftover mashed potatoes that actually went bad in the refrigerator!  I couldn't believe it!  But, we live and learn!

We got ready to head to my in-law's and while I got ready, my oldest son said, "Mom, why do you need to take all those oils?"

So, I picked one up and said, "This one is for _____", and "This one is for _____"  and he asked me how I used them while I travel.  I told him, "You know how you roll Deep Relief on your wrist?  It's much the same way, but I just put a couple drops of Juniper or Lemongrass to help with my swollen ankles."

He is learning just like I've learned and just like you, I'm sure.  These oils can help with great benefits!  When I have leg cramps, I add Lavender to my legs and within a few minutes it's helped so much!  My mother-in-law had hand cramps while we were playing cards one night and I got out my Lavender and put a couple drops on her finger and rubbed it in.  Within a few minutes it was gone.

As you go about your day, helping people, serving folks, loving on family and friends, "Sieze the day!"  Take the opportunity to spend time with someone, even if it may take a little bit of planning and setting a little bit of money aside to do that.  It is so worth it!

Why?  Because some day, maybe not tomorrow, next week, next month, or next year, but some day, that person is going to be called home to be with Jesus.  Don't let time go by without visiting those folks.  If you have hard feelings between you, ask for forgiveness for your part in it, make ammends; take time to make memories.  You won't regret it!

Carpe Diem!

Love & God Bless,

Thanksgiving Preparations-Two Celebrations-and An Announcement

Thanksgiving Preparations-Two Celebrations-and An Announcement
This week is a very busy week in our home, filled with all kinds of baking, getting things ready for Thanksgiving and cleaning, too!  (With 3 BIG dogs who shed it's ongoing!)  The baking has already begun with my husband baking quickbreads and branching out from there.  He's always enjoyed cooking and baking.  I'm so thankful and blessed when he specifically tells me, "Hey, Hon, I used that special rice that you liked in this dish!"  Love that man! 😍

This past week our oldest son was inducted in the National Trades Honor Society.  This is his 2nd honor society and we couldn't be more proud of him!  He'll be graduating the first week of December and he is so very ready to start working!  I cannot wait to see what the Lord does in his life!

Me, my son Daniel, and my husband Craig at Daniel's induction ceremony.

We love gathering with friends and family.  It's one of those wonderful heart filling things that we love doing.  We make a special day each month to gather with family, catch up with one another, play with our grandson, and now we get to look forward to a new precious addition around June 2022!  Yes!  We have a new grandblessing on the way!

We have so much to be thankful for!

We look forward to the next year.  We are hoping for another engagement ring, celebrating new steps, sprouted wings, and lots of baby snuggles!

Traveling and Loving on Family

Traveling and Loving on Family

Many of you may not know where I’ve been or what I’ve been up to the past 2 weeks.  I found out a few months ago that my sister was getting married, so I worked hard to “move heaven and earth” to get to her wedding.  So I got an incredible deal on Priceline that could have only been possible by God Himself and started planning and packing!

I headed into the setting sun and was faced with some absolutely gorgeous cloud formations!

I landed in South Dakota and into the wind and rain.  The larger part of the storm was south of us, but the wind created some turbulence and made the landing a bit rough, but it was good! That captain earned his pay that day!

So for 2 weeks I was able to love on my family.   My sister’s dress needed finishing and with my Mom’s arthritis it was difficult for her, so I stepped in and helped out with the finishing “hooks and eyes” on the back.

Her dress was so flowy and angelic!  I loved it!

My dear sweet Great Aunt drove up for the wedding from 5 hours away.  Her shoulder was hurting the next day, so I showed her how to add a drop of Peppermint Essential Oil to her lotion and rubbed it in to her shoulder.  She said it helped a lot, so hopefully next time she’ll be able to use that. 😊

Another sweet lady who visited my aunt showed me a recipe for fingernail nourishing conditioner.  I happened to have 3 of the 4 oils she needed for it, so I made her a roller bottle for it and mentioned she could get the other oil once she went home. She used it and said she may not need to add the other oil because the 3 we were able to put in it might be enough. 😉

My sister, niece, great niece and I went to get our nails done the day before the wedding and my niece mentioned she was a bit sweaty and felt like she didn’t smell the greatest.  So I pulled out Frankincense and Stress Away for her to smell.  She chose Stress Away and I told her to rub it between her hands and put it where she needed it.  Then she asked for more!  😊

My brother, sister, and I were sitting visiting, and all 3 of us were coughing.  I rolled “Breathe Again” roll-on to my throat, then passed it around to my brother and sister to share with them.  My sister loves Eucalyptus, so it really resonated with her.  I suggested she take the Eucalyptus she has and put a couple drops in her diffuser at night while she sleeps.  She didn’t realize she could do that!

I travel with my oils and it is so very easy to do!  They pass right through TSA because the large 15ml bottles are less than the 2 ounce limit.   They went through the scanning process and I had them securely packed in my small carry on suit case.  It made for very easy packing and unpacking.  On the way back I put all my electronics—battery operated things, head sets, cell phone & etc, in my knitting bag and attached it to my rolling carry on for easier access.  I put it on the conveyer belt, unzipped it, took out my laptop and put it in it’s own bin, everything from the knitting bag in another, and my carry on by itself.  It worked!   Easy peasy!

I learned so much while traveling this time!  I found that reading and rereading things on the airline’s website is the best route to take.  Make sure you follow their guidelines to make going through security easier.

If you have a disability like I do, make sure they know about it so they can help you and adjust for you when you arrive.   Although I didn’t need much, the flight attendant came to me to ask if I heard and understood the instructions at the beginning of the flight.  I appreciated that so much!

Have you traveled by airplane lately?  How was your experience?  Did you take your oils and how did you pack them?

I’d love to hear from you!

Love & God Bless,

Regina

PS:  Yes, we went to Bear Country!
This guy was about 5 feet from us!
